Gerwyn Price and
Luke Humphries have become the first men through to the semi-finals of
German Darts Grand Prix in Munich this Monday evening.
For Humphries it was victory in a cracker against Danny Noppert. Both players threw an average of over 106, but Humphries' timing was great. 'Cool Hand Luke' broke Noppert in the first leg with an 11-darter and then made it 2-0 via double 9. An 81 check-out in the fifth leg produced another break for the Englishman, making it 4-1.
Humphries then made it 5-1 by hitting the double 5. Noppert showed his class in the seventh leg by throwing an 11-darter, but then could not mount an incredible comeback. Humphries decided the match with a 121 finish on the bullseye.
In the semi-final match, Humphries will take on Gerwyn Price. The former world champion was too strong for Josh Rock after an exciting match 6-5. Price posted an average of 101 and a finishing percentage of 40 percent.
