Michael van Gerwen powers past Gabriel Clemens and sets up semi-final with Ross Smith at European Darts Grand Prix

Ross Smith and Michael van Gerwen have joined Gary Anderson and Rob Cross in reaching the semifinals at the European Darts Grand Prix in Sindelfingen.

Van Gerwen started his match against Gabriel Clemens excellently with two 14-darters. His German opponent then halved the deficit by hitting a 14-darter before Van Gerwen made it 3-1 with a 16-darter. Mighty Mike then missed two chances to extend the lead further. Clemens stayed in the match by hitting a 15-darter to make it 2-3.

Clemens was then able to make it 3-3, but his chance at tops was missed. Van Gerwen then hit double 4 for 4-2 and moments later it was 5-3 via a 73 checkout. Then the three-time world champion got the job done with a nice 124 finish for the match.

In the semi-final match Van Gerwen will face Ross Smith. The last leg could be started by Heta, but 'The Heat' was not out in six visits. He missed one matchdart on tops, after which Smith was able to take the win via double 6.
