For the first time in two years,
Michael van Gerwen has his hands on a televised PDC title! The Dutchman has seen off
Luke Littler in a dramatic final 11-7 to take the 2025
World Series of Darts Finals title in Amsterdam.
The Dutchman, roared on by a partisan home crowd, produced moments of brilliance under pressure and sealed victory in trademark fashion with a sensational 130 checkout, igniting scenes of jubilation inside AFAS Live.
Fierce opening exchanges
The final began with Van Gerwen setting the tone, opening with a maximum and eventually pinning double 4 for the first leg. Littler, unfazed, struck back with a 13-darter before pouncing with a clinical 90 checkout to break for a 2–1 lead.
But in front of a raucous Amsterdam crowd firmly on his side, Van Gerwen immediately broke back and edged the first interval 3–2 after tidying up 50 in composed style.
Littler responds, Van Gerwen seizes control
If the Dutch fans expected an easy evening, Littler had other ideas. The teenager stormed out of the break, firing in his first 180 of the match and cleaning up a superb 10-dart leg to level at 3–3.
Van Gerwen responded in kind, capitalising on Littler’s missed bull for a 170 as he restored his lead at 4–3. The momentum began to swing when he broke for 5–3, then extended his advantage with three legs on the bounce. Littler stopped the rot with double 10 to cut the gap to 6–4 at the second break, gesturing defiantly towards the hostile crowd.

Tension boils over
The third session was laced with drama. Littler clawed back to 6–5 with a nerveless 85 checkout, then levelled the contest at 6–6 with an 88 finish as the pressure began to mount.
But Van Gerwen responded with trademark ruthlessness. Littler missed a dart at tops for the lead and then became distracted by whistling from the stands, but the Dutchman showed no mercy. He reeled off successive legs to move 8–6, the crowd now fully behind their man as Littler’s composure wavered.
Vintage Van Gerwen finish
The turning point came as Van Gerwen carried a 9–6 cushion into the final interval, leaving himself just two legs from glory. Littler found double 10 to reduce the deficit, but the three-time world champion held firm.
When Van Gerwen scrambled in double 5 with his last dart in hand to move 10–6, the title was within touching distance. Littler briefly delayed the inevitable, but the night belonged to Van Gerwen.
He fittingly sealed the contest with a magnificent 130 finish, drilling tops with authority to spark a deafening roar from the Amsterdam faithful.
Relief and redemption
For Van Gerwen, it was a victory that felt as much about redemption as celebration. Winless on TV since 2023, the 36-year-old had faced growing questions about his ability to keep pace with Littler and the new wave of challengers.
On this evidence, however, the Dutchman remains very much a force to be reckoned with. Against the reigning world champion and the sport’s brightest young star, Van Gerwen found both the clinical edge and emotional firepower that once made him the game’s most feared competitor.
As the confetti fell, Van Gerwen punched the air with trademark intensity. The message was clear: after two barren years, Mighty Mike is back.
