Taking place between September 12-14, the
World Series of Darts Finals returns again to Amsterdam and the AFAS Live for another edition in what will be the first major action since the World Matchplay.
After the previous World Series events, the top eight seeds are conceived through the Order of Merit with the next players then set as unseeded who have appeared over the course of the season but haven't got enough points to be a seed. They are joined by the next best players on the Order of Merit followed by Tour Card holder qualifiers.
Luke Littler returns after scooping the title last year seeing off Michael Smith and will be the favourite to claim it once again.

History of World Series of Darts Finals
The tournament has been held since 2015 with Michael van Gerwen being a five-time champion. It has been at the AFAS Live in Amsterdam since 2021 with a previous stop back in 2019 before it became the permanent home.
Luke Littler is defending champion having won the title in 2024 defeating Michael Smith in the final. Smith of course after his rapid slide down the rankings does not return this year unless he qualifies.

Predictions
Samuel Gill, Head Editor for DartsNews.com sees it being the time for Josh Rock to shine.
Luke Littler, Stephen Bunting and Luke Humphries figure in my reckoning as does Gerwyn Price but going against the grain is my middle name. I think Josh Rock will be the champion here in Amsterdam.
He has been incredible on TV in recent months and has got a taste of the World Series. Now he will want major success and the Premier League success that will likely come with it. Let's be honest the PDC are desperate eventually to put him in the roadshow so this would tick that box.
I also would not be shocked to see Jonny Clayton perform well as he did at the World Matchplay as well as even a shock win for Jonny Tata if he manages to get a seed like a Rob Cross for instance who has not been in any form for some time.
Favourites:
*** Josh Rock
** Luke Littler, Luke Humphries
* Gerwyn Price, Jonny Clayton, Michael van Gerwen
Kieran Wood, Editor for DartsNews.com sees Luke Littler as the main outstanding name alongside Stephen Bunting, the forerunners on this year's World Series.
Luke Littler enters Amsterdam in incredible form, and his high scoring and rapid rhythm make him a serious contender for the title. If he stays sharp under pressure, it will take a phenomenal performance from anyone to knock him out.
Stephen Bunting has had a strong year in World Series events and looks ready to make another deep run. Gerwyn Price remains a player who thrives in high-stakes matches, capable of producing moments that can change a tournament in an instant. Rob Cross, Chris Dobey, and Nathan Aspinall are all dangerous opponents, though their recent inconsistency may limit how far they go.
Unseeded players add an unpredictable element. Mike de Decker impressed Down Under and could surprise again, while Josh Rock has the firepower to upset anyone on his day. Jonny Clayton’s experience and composure make him a perennial threat, and Michael van Gerwen, even with uncertain form, can never be ignored.
Luke Humphries, normally one of Littler’s main challengers, has not been at his peak recently. If he fails to find form early, it could leave the path a little clearer for Littler and the other in-form seeds.

Luke Littler to rise to the occasion in Amsterdam?
Mats Leering, Editor for DartsNieuws.com also sees a Nuke major win in Amsterdam.
In Luke Littler's current form, it will be very difficult for any other player to stop him. Normally, Humphries would be the main challenger for 'The Nuke', but he is not playing at his best at the moment. Bunting has been very strong in the World Series tournaments all year, which is why he is seeded first. I think 'The Bullet' and Gerwyn Price are the seeded players most likely to prevent Littler from winning.
In addition, there are a whole lot of unseeded players, including Mike De Decker, Michael van Gerwen, Josh Rock and Jonny Clayton as the most notable names. De Decker recently showed Down Under that he is in good form and could go far. Josh Rock is also a dangerous outsider. Van Gerwen's form is somewhat uncertain, so I dare not say how he will perform.
Finally, with Dutch players such as Van Barneveld, Wattimena and Noppert, you have players who are playing in their own country in Amsterdam, which always gives them an extra boost to perform well. So I would definitely keep an eye on these three as possible surprises.

Format
The format is likely to mirror the World Series and previous iterations of the final with first to six legs for the first two rounds in a short format before expanding to first to 10 and first to 11 in the Quarter-Finals to Final.
Very much a format that can catch out the big names early on in Amsterdam.

Field World Series of Darts Finals 2025
The field is led by Stephen Bunting. 'The Bullet' alongside Luke Littler has won two titles this year on the World Series and has been the benchmark in his first full season on the circuit. He won Bahrain and Copenhagen and heads up the seeds alongside Luke Littler who sealed titles in Australia and New Zealand.
Luke Humphries is next up having won the US Darts Masters at Madison Square Garden. Gerwyn Price and Rob Cross also sealed titles at the Poland Darts Masters and Dutch Darts Masters and are joined in the field by Chris Dobey, Nathan Aspinall and Mike de Decker. The latter only played in two events but reached the final in Wollongong.
Michael van Gerwen is perhaps the surprise given that he is one of the non-seeded qualifiers so will be a dangerous first round opponent for one of the big names. He returns to the AFAS Live in Amsterdam not as one of the top eight. He has wrangled with personal issues the past few months and decided not to play in the Australia/New Zealand double header again. This is despite MVG of course being one of the first names on the team sheet of sorts as a legendary player.
But due to a lack of participation at times and also poor results, he is only qualified as a non-seed. He is joined by Raymond van Barneveld as well as Simon Whitlock, Haupai Puha, Jonny Tata, Danny Lauby and Jason Brandon. The latter two make their debuts. Paolo Nebrida declined the chance to play.
While James Wade, Dave Chisnall, Ross Smith and Danny Noppert are the next non-qualified players through the PDC Order of Merit. Gary Anderson declined his chance. The final six are set through a Tour Card Qualifier on August 27.
