Mike De Decker previously revealed that he was not too happy about being overlooked for the 2025 Premier League Darts. Now, however, the Belgian dart player has decided to skip the Dutch Darts Masters on the World Series of Darts and the 'Real Deal' has shared another sneer at the PDC and playing city of Den Bosch.
"I honestly think their decision is a bit outrageous. Now they say you get into the Premier League based on the results. So apparently that is not the case," De Decker said after it was announced that he had not been chosen for the Premier League, naming Nathan Aspinall and Gerwyn Price in particular as two players he believed he was more deserving than.
The Belgian was initially supposed to participate in the TOTO Dutch Darts Masters that takes place January 24-15 in Den Bosch. However, De Decker received the invitation rather late. "Last week I only got an email that they wanted me to be there," 'Real Deal' began his account in the podcast 'Darts Draait Door'. "But I'm in Dubai for vacation around those days. So yes, I can't. If only they should have let me know earlier. And for the starting money I get, I'm not going to reschedule my vacation. Then it costs me more than it gives me. So I won't be there."
However, the Belgian explains that it would not have mattered how early the PDC would have asked him, he was not planning to participate anyway. "The World Series is not a tournament I was looking forward to anyway, and certainly not the one in the Netherlands. If you get invited then, you want to go to Bahrain or Australia. At least those are nice countries. Of all the places where those tournaments are, you don't want to be invited especially to Den Bosch."
Dart fans from the Benelux do not need to grieve, however, as a total of eight Dutchmen and one Belgian will be present in North Brabant. Dimitri van den Bergh will attend on behalf of Belgium, while Michael van Gerwen, Danny Noppert, Raymond van Barneveld, Dirk van Duijvenbode, Gian van Veen, Jermaine Wattimena, Kevin Doets and Richard Veenstra will represent the Dutch. Completing the lineup in Den Bosch are the aforementioned Aspinall and Price, plus Stephen Bunting, Luke Humphries, Luke Littler, Rob Cross and Chris Dobey.
