Australian star Cadby had been expected to attend
Q-School in 2017, only to remain in Australia to focus on his development. The 22-year old tasted success in Wigan at the very first attempt to earn a place on the Pro Tour. Cadby defeated Dave Prins, Jack Todd, Gavin James, Tom Gregory, John O'Shea, John Mann and Nathan Rafferty at Robin Park. In the semi-finals, he defeated 19-year-old Callan Rydz to confirm professional status.
"I'm absolutely over the moon," the 2016 World Youth champion said. "Everyone expected I would be here, but I wasn't ready. I'm here this year and I've done my job on day one.
"No game was easy but it's mission accomplished. My focus is really good, and I hit the doubles which is what wins you games.
"It gives me a bit more confidence knowing what I'm capable of. I've been throwing with new darts for a couple of weeks and to manage to get through Q School means a lot."
The starlet has already made various appearances on the big stage. Cadby averaged more than 100 on his World Championship debut, and reached the Auckland Darts Masters final. Phil Taylor is among his growing fan club, but Cadby reserved gratitude for those closest to him.
"My manager believed in me and so did my partner, and that gave me the boost to push on. I can't wait to come up against bigger things and better things," he said.
