Mixed fortunes for home hopes as Van den Bergh rocks Wieze with emphatic White win but Huybrechts thrashed by Evans

The opening day of action is complete at the Belgian Darts Open with mixed fortunes for the home heroes in Wieze.

Dimitri van den Bergh concluded the night with victory to anchor home hopes going into Saturday. He produced an emphatic 6-1 win over Ian White.

It was a 94 average, three 180's and he pounced on 14.3% on the outer ring from White throughout the tie to move through and delight the home crowd.

But while Van den Bergh is through, the same cannot be said for Kim Huybrechts.

In a quick as a flash game, Ricky Evans rapidly dispatched of 'The Hurricane' 6-0 with a 99 average and 75% on the doubles to momentarily silence the crowd earlier in the evening.

In the other tie, Chris Dobey is through. After his recent Premier League woes where he hasn't been getting the rub of the green despite high averages, it was more hard fought as he took down Dalibor Smolik 6-3 to progress
