Money not a motivating factor for Van Duijvenbode: "I think that trophy looks beautiful and I would like to take it home"

Dirk van Duijvenbode already has £50,000 in his pocket for reaching the final at the World Grand Prix. On Monday evening, he can win more than double his prize money if he manages to beat Gerwyn Price.

A cheque for £110,000 is waiting for the winner. A lot of money, especially for someone who still has a part-time job, such as Van Duijvenbode. With a place in the finals, he says he already earned an extra annual salary.

However, money is not the most important motivation, and he does not want to stop his work at an aubergine farm. "I just want that title now. I think that trophy looks beautiful and I would like to take it home. I will go all out for that, '' he tells De Telegraaf.

Van Duijvenbode also realizes that this is a dream opportunity to win a PDC major. “I can play freely because I have such a bad head to head record against Gerwyn. But of course I just want to win. This may be the only time in my life that I come this close to a major title."
