Dirk's doubles v Price's trebles? We take a closer look at the tournament stats so far of Dirk van Duijvenbode and Gerwyn Price ahead of tonight's @BoyleSports World Grand Prix final.
Dirk van Duijvenbode will face off against Gerwyn Price in the final of the World Grand Prix on Monday evening with the Dutchman only the fifth to reach a PDC TV ranking final.
Roland Scholten was the first in 2001 also at the World Grand Prix where he lost in the final to Alan Warriner. 'The Tripod' also reached the final at the UK Open in 2004 where he managed to win his only major title.
Two years later, he lost out in the Premier League final against Phil Taylor. In 2007, Vincent van der Voort managed to reach the final at the UK Open. There he lost out to fellow compatriot, Raymond van Barneveld. After that only the latter and Michael van Gerwen managed to reach a major final.
Van Duijvenbode therefore is only the fifth Dutchman to achieve this feat. Co Stompé (World Cup of Darts 2010 with Van Barneveld) and Danny Noppert (World Series of Darts Finals 2019) reached TV finals, but these tournaments did not count towards the world rankings.
