This weekend's World Series of Darts Finals in Amsterdam will be the finale of the prestigious tournament series, but at the same time the last chapter in its current form. Starting in 2026, the event will get a revamped format - and that means a longer playing schedule as well as more darts for the fans.
The 2025 edition - taking place this year from Friday, Sept. 12 to Sunday, Sept. 14 - will still remain true to the familiar three-day format. But starting next year, the tournament will be spread over four playing days. The PDC has already confirmed that the 2026 World Series of Darts Finals will be played at AFAS Live in Amsterdam from Sept. 17 to 20. The big difference? The players will appear on stage as early as Thursday. That extra day provides an extra evening session, which not only makes the tournament last longer but also spreads the rounds out better over the days.
The first round will be spread out over Thursday and Friday in 2026. The second round will then be scheduled entirely on Saturday. So far, the games in that round are played in a format of best of 11 legs (whoever wins 6 legs first).
The PDC is expected to move this up to best of 19 legs starting in 2026, a format that is now only used from the quarter-finals onward. The rest of the schedule will remain the same. That means the quarterfinals will also be over best of 19 legs, and the semifinals and finals over best of 21 legs.

AFAS Live once again the setting

AFAS Live is now inseparable from the World Series of Darts Finals. The venue in Amsterdam already hosted the tournament in 2019 and then continuously from 2021 to 2025. The PDC will return here in 2026 as well - but this time with an expanded format and an extra day of play.
Full details of the new format will be officially announced later, but it is already clear that the 2026 World Series of Darts Finals promises to be a bigger and longer darts spectacle than ever before.
