Nathan Aspinall shocked the darts world by claiming the European Darts Trophy title in Göttingen on Sunday night, marking his first-ever victory in a Euro Tour event.

Aspinall triumphed in a thrilling series of matches, defeating Ritchie Edhouse (6-5), Jermaine Wattimena (6-5), Luke Humphries (6-1), Gary Anderson (7-6), and Ryan Joyce (8-4) on his way to the title.

With this win, the Englishman has now achieved a remarkable feat in PDC history. Aspinall becomes only the second player ever to secure titles across all five major PDC circuits: the Development Tour, Challenge Tour, Players Championship, World Series, and a PDC major.

Aspinall’s journey began in 2015, when he captured his first Development Tour title, followed by a Challenge Tour victory in 2017. In 2018, he claimed his first Players Championship title, and in 2019, he added both the UK Open (a PDC major) and the US Darts Masters (a World Series event) to his trophy collection.

Another notable achievement came in 2020 when he won the PDC Home Tour, an event held exclusively for Tour Card holders during the COVID-19 pandemic. That same year, he claimed another Players Championship title, repeating the feat again in 2022.

Aspinall reached a career milestone in 2023 by winning the World Matchplay, his second major title, before now adding the European Darts Trophy to his growing list of accomplishments.

The only other player to have won titles across all these circuits is Luke Humphries. However, the current world number one’s achievements far surpass Aspinall’s, with Humphries winning one Challenge Tour, 11 Development Tour titles, the second edition of the PDC Home Tour in 2020, seven Euro Tour events, four Players Championship titles, one World Series event, and eight major titles, including the coveted World Championship in 2024.
