Gerwyn Price has delivered a strong response to critics who questioned his inclusion in this year's Premier League Darts. 'The Iceman' has been in outstanding form, already securing two nightly victories in the competition.

Currently ranked world number 12, Price sits fourth in the Premier League standings, putting him firmly on course to reach the playoffs at the O2 Arena. His selection, along with Nathan Aspinall’s, faced scrutiny earlier in the season, with players such as Mike De Decker and Dave Chisnall expressing their discontent. However, both Price and Aspinall have since silenced their doubters with impressive performances.

Aspinall recently claimed his first European Tour title, while Price has not only won two Premier League nights but also clinched Players Championship 2 and reached the final of the Bahrain Darts Masters.

"They can all say what they want. You can’t just forget Me and Nathan [Aspinall] are not just one offs," Price said on talkSPORT.

“We have been doing it for the last ten years consistently. The likes of those other players they are very inconsistent. They need to do it in more than one tournament or one season to be picked in the Premier League.

“It’s not an easy tournament to be involved in. You don’t just get gifted from one simple tournament. I knew in my head that I still had the game. I just weren’t getting the results. But it’s changing this year.”

Last weekend, 'Gezzy' was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the European Darts Trophy by Michael van Gerwen. On Thursday, Price returns to action during the eighth round of Premier League play in Newcastle, where he will face Rob Cross.
