Nathan Aspinall reached his first final in this year's Premier League as he dispatched
Rob Cross 6-4 in a composed display.
Both players opened up with comfortable holds of throw. With Aspinall playing in his first semi final of the Premier League season, he played with a sense of freedom early on. The standard was high, with both of them taking no more than five visits to the board to check out in the first four legs. It was Aspinall who managed to find the first break of throw after Cross missed two darts at double.
Cross' level started to drop and lost his throw in the sixth leg, but snuck away with the next one as Aspinall failed to make his opponent pay on the outer ring. The defending Matchplay champion restored his two leg buffer, as Cross' scoring deserted him, but the former World Champion battled to close the gap back to one and force a last-leg decider and, despite Aspinall missing a match dart, he was allowed to return to the board and close out the game on double three.
He will take on either table-topper Michael van Gerwen or Luke Littler in the final.
