Luke Littler poured more misery on
Peter Wright's Premier League struggles as the teenager came out on top in a last-leg decider. Despite still not getting off the mark, Wright will be encouraged by his performance in a tie that both players played their part in by averaging over 103.
Littler came out firing to race into a two-leg lead, only for Wright to kick into gear to restore parity. But it was the teenager who got the crowd going with a 12-darter which was capped off by a 170 checkout to go 3-2 ahead. Wright managed to keep in arm's length, getting proceedings back level in a high-quality affair. Despite breaking and throwing for the match, 'Snakebite' was unable to capitalise and squandered a match dart at double 16, allowing Littler to force a decider with a clinical 85 checkout. And it was the youngster who came out victorious, with Wright offering little resistance in the final leg.
Van Gerwen sees off price to reach semi final
Michael van Gerwen saw off
Gerwyn Price in the final quarter final of the night in a rematch of the final from last year. The reigning champion looked comfortable at the start and found an early break of throw in the contest.
Price battled to stay within one but van Gerwen didn't relent, firing in two maximums to restore his two-leg lead. The Dutchman continued to show class as he followed up with a 12-dart break, although Price wasn't finished just yet by winning consecutive legs. However, 'The Iceman' left himself with too much to do in the end as van Gerwen closed the game out on double 16 to make the semis, where he will meet Luke Littler in a repeat of the final from Night Two.
