Dimitri van den Bergh has completed the quarterfinal lineup at the 2025 PDC Winmau World Masters. The Belgian has defeated Michael van Gerwen for just the second time in his career to close out the Saturday night session in Milton Keynes, hitting a nine-darter en route.

Van Gerwen had won 20 of the pairs previous 22 meetings ahead of this one and the Dutchman looked to assert his authority early here too. After pulling out a stunning 132 checkout to take the opening leg of the match, 'Mighty Mike' backed it up in leg 2 to move one set to the good in double quick time.

Full credit to Van den Bergh though, the Belgian didn't buckle having gone a set down. In fact, the Belgian managed to immediately level the contest back up by winning set 2 in a deciding leg. Set 3 also went the distance, but this time it was Van Gerwen who had the advantage of throw. The Dutchman couldn't make the most of that advantage though and Van den Bergh broke throw to get himself in front at 2-1 in sets.

As there continued to be very little to split the pair, set 4 again went all the way to a deciding leg. With the throw in the fifth leg, Van den Bergh forged himself a great opportunity for a 3-1 lead. Missing two clear darts at double 16 though, the Belgian couldn't take his chance. Van Gerwen punished, letting out a big roar too as the players headed off stage all square at 2-2.

With Van Gerwen having the mental edge in their battles, the Dutchman looked poised to take control. Even more so after he took set 5. Again Van den Bergh responded though, this time in perfect style with an incredible nine-darter to open up set 6! Despite Van Gerwen levelling the set in the next leg, Van den Bergh took the set decider to make it 3-3.

Van den Bergh was looking incredibly focused and started the deciding set with a break of the Van Gerwen throw to get to just one hold of throw away from a famous win. After Van Gerwen then made an absolute mess of an 87 checkout, Van den Bergh was on hand to punish and dump out the world number three.
