Noppert battles past Noguera in decider to claim Quarter-Final spot for Netherlands

The Netherlands are the final country into the Quarter-Finals at the World Cup of Darts after defeating Spain in yet another clean sweep but it is another that went right down to the wire.

In Michael van Gerwen's case, it didn't. The World Number One breezed past Toni Alcinas 4-0 with a 102 average. His doubles in particular were impressive with 4/7 (57%) including a high checkout of 112 as he anchored Netherlands to their first point and restricted Alcinas to only one dart at double.

It was now up to Danny Noppert to face arguably the better form player in the Spanish duo in Jesus Noguera and it nearly went to a pairs decider.

Noguera took the advantage early on with a 2-1 lead over Noppert. A tense fourth leg followed which saw the latter tie the game up . Despite that though Noguera went one away with an 84 checkout.

Noppert attempted to take the game away with seven perfect darts following that and pinned double four to claim a decider. From there, Noguera missed multiple chances to win and Noppert hit 46 to capitalise and win through.
