Five Nottingham schools got a special experience Thursday with a Bullseye Maths session, prior to the annual Premier League night at the Motorpoint Arena.
Students from Cotmanhay, Cloudside Academy, Hempshill Hall, Glenbrook Spencer Academy and Jubilee Academy visited the arena for an interactive session combining math with darts-related games.
The session took place on the floor of the arena and ended with a special moment: the children were allowed to take the stage on which such top players as Luke Humphries, Luke Littler and Nottingham winner Gerwyn Price competed later that day.
Students were enthusiastic about the unique experience. "It was a great experience, as always, and the children really enjoyed it," said Hempshill Hall teacher Jon Wright. "There are some seriously good young children out there - stars of the future!"
The session was part of the PDC's Bullseye Maths program, which has been promoting math skills through a combination of educational activities and darts since its launch in 2022. The program also offers an online platform with worksheets and the interactive Maths game, available at pdc.tv/maths.
Bullseye Maths coordinator Gary Horsley was again impressed with the students' commitment.
"It was great as always to see how engaged the pupils were in the Bullseye Maths session," he said.
"Bullseye Maths remains incredibly popular wherever we visit and encourages numeracy across all ages."
