Looking back on the first nine European Tour events, Michael van Gerwen and Ian White are the only two who were able to win at least two events, while others also made name for themselves with great performances.

Nine out of thirteen events of the European Tour 2019 have already been played in which were spectacular and surprising moments. The tournaments, each with 48 players at the start, have been held in five countries. The remaining four events will take place within the next five weeks, which will decide who will play at the European Championship in Göttingen.

Van Gerwen's dominance

Extraordinary things happened in the first tournament, which Michael van Gerwen won. He hit a nine-darter in the semi-finals, while Adrian Lewis and Dimitri van den Bergh had an argument on the stage.
In the following tournament Daryl Gurney won his maiden European Tour title, while Ricky Evans reached the final with a strong tournament performance. There was another nine-dart finish, as James Wade finished a leg within nine darts in the third round.
Van Gerwen won the next three European Tour events. He was a bit fortunate in the latter two, with surviving several match-darts en route to the titles. Steve Beaton landed a nine-darter during the German Darts Open in Saarbrücken.

Double triumph for White

Ian White had reached the final of European Tour event 4 and 5, but lost them both to Mighty Mike. It was a third time lucky for 'The Diamond' as he won European Tour 6 with a 8-7 victory over Peter Wright at the European Darts Grand Prix.
Then he went on to beat Van Gerwen in the final of the Dutch Darts Masters in the Netherlands. With a hostile crowd behind him, White kept his nerves to beat the Dutchman 8-7.

Chisnall's and Hughes's unexpected wins

In the following tournament Dave Chisnall managed to win his first European Tour title since 2013. He defeated Chris Dobey in the final, as 'Hollywood' reached his first European Tour final after beating the likes of Gerwyn Price and Daryl Gurney.
The inaugural edition of the Czech Darts Open saw Jamie Hughes claiming his first PDC title. 'Yozza' saw off White and Simon Whitlock, before beating Stephen Bunting 8-3 in the final. Price hit a nine-darter to beat Glen Durrant in the second round.
The European Tour continues Friday in Austria after a short summer break. There's four events left to play as the race to the European Championship keeps going.
