PDC Order of Merit: Michael van Gerwen retakes second spot from Michael Smith; Gerwyn Price returns to world's top four

The top-10 of the PDC Order of Merit underwent quite a few changes after the Dutch Darts Championship. No less than eight positions in the world's top-10 got a new owner.
Luke Humphries, of course, remained number one in the Order of Merit, whilst Michael van Gerwen retook second place from Michael Smith. 'Bullyboy' won a Euro Tour tournament in late May two years ago, but chose to forego the Euro Tour tournament in Rosmalen this time around, causing him to lose considerable pounds on the rankings.
Gerwyn Price is back in the top four of the PDC Order of Merit following his quarterfinal finish at the Dutch Darts Championship. 'The Iceman' passed both Rob Cross and Nathan Aspinall. Dave Chisnall retained his seventh spot, whilst Jonny Clayton moved up from tenth to eighth. Peter Wright meanwhile had to surrender a further two spots and is now ninth, while Dimitri van den Bergh moved up one spot and is now tenth.
The Dutch Darts Championship was won by Josh Rock, who is getting closer and closer to a debut in the top-16 of the world rankings. 'Rocky' climbed from 20th position to 18th. That was then at the expense of Andrew Gilding and Ryan Searle.

- I dont like individuals or crowds trying to put any player off when they are trying to check out, how anyone can think its okay for the crowd to whistle or shout as someone is throwing for a double is beyond me but it does seem to have become part and parcel of the modern game. - It happens. Remember, anyone who has watched German and Dutch players in matches - their respective countries will have seen/heard just as bad jeering (if not worse). - Was watching an old World Masters final the other day between Eric Bristow and John Lowe, the crowd respect for both players on throw was first class, not a sound. You can imagine now the idiots who were whistling on De Deckers throw proudly boasting about it on social media. I blame the PDC to a certain extent though doubt they really care as they win regardless of which player wins or loses.Mysstree16-11-2024
