PDC Order of Merit: Ross Smith makes top 10 debut as Littler and Van Veen make moves

Ross Smith secured a spot in the top-10 of the world rankings for the first time in his career after the triptych of Players Championship tournaments in Milton Keynes.
The Englishman passed Dimitri van den Bergh, who now finds himself back in eleventh place. For Smith, even further progression beckons in the coming weeks, with seventh place proving a realistic option.
At the end of October, however, Smith is likely to go down another notch in the world rankings. Then he must defend his title at the European Darts Championship, which he won in 2022. That final victory earned him £120,000 in prize money at the time.
Otherwise, there were few changes at the top of the world rankings. Luke Littler moved up one spot, and is now ranked No. 23 in the world. Gian van Veen took over the 31st spot from Scott Williams on the PDC Order of Merit.
Mike de Decker, one of the three tournament winners, did not rise, but did narrow his gap to No. 35 Ryan Joyce. Wessel Nijman made a big jump in the rankings due to his final spot at Players Championship 15. He climbed eight places and is now in 78th place.

- I completely agree with Vincent's comments on "whistlegate". It's great to have someone with Vincent's exprience address this issue, so hopefully clearer and stricter guidlelines can be given to referees, security and members of the crowd. No whistling during throws, and something like: whistlers evicted and fined a hefty sum.
