Both the men's and women's tournament at the WDF Antwerp Open produced a Dutch winner. Corné Groeneveld won the men's tournament and took a WDF title for the first time in his career.
The 33-year-old Groeneveld managed to beat Lazlo Kadar (4-2), Erik van Rijswijk (4-0), Thomas Junghans (4-0) and Cliff Prior (5-2), among others. It earned the Dutchman the top prize of 1,600 euros.
Rietbergen won 4-3 over Sharon Straatsma at the last 16, before the Dutchwoman was too strong for Aileen de Graaf in a cracker 4-3. In the semifinals, she won 4-2 over Anna Forsmark, before beating Priscilla Steenbergen 5-1 in the final. The top prize for the ladies was 800 euros.
