PDC Order of Merit Update: Stephen Bunting moves back into top five as Joe Cullen and Gian van Veen surge

After the latest batch of Players Championship tournaments, the PDC Order of Merit has been updated. Stephen Bunting swapped places with Jonny Clayton, with 'The Bullet' now holding the fifth spot.
Ryan Searle took over the 19th spot from Dimitri van den Bergh, while Joe Cullen passed Martin Schindler thanks to his title and is now ranked No. 22 in the world.
While, Gian van Veen has advanced to his highest position ever on the PDC Order of Merit after achieving sensational results at the two Players Championship tournaments in Leicester last week.
On Tuesday, Van Veen lost 8-7 to Joe Cullen in the final of Players Championship 5 after the Dutchman missed six matchdarts. A day later, however, 'GVV The Giant' struck by beating world number one Luke Humphries 8-3 in the final match. In two days, Van Veen earned a total of 25,000 pounds, passing Daryl Gurney and now ranks 24th in the world rankings.
Looking lower, William O'Connor moved up two places and is now in 46th place, at the expense of Kim Huybrechts and Niels Zonneveld. Florian Hempel (+1), Robert Owen (+1), Connor Scutt (+1) and Dylan Slevin (+2) also managed to rise within the top-64. Beyond that, Sebastian Bialecki (+14), Christian Kist (+10), Marvin van Velzen (+11) and Greg Ritchie (+13) did well. They have two years to secure a spot within the top-64 so that they may keep their Tour Card beyond 2026.

- Likewise, I have always been a fan of Mervyn and with this worry on his mind, it explains why his form and ranking plummeted. It is really sad to hear this, often chatted to Mervyn and Tracey during the Lakeside days, both are lovely people. It does seem naive not acknowledging the fact it was earnings, surely there must be others in the same situation. - What’s with the dogs element to this story, trying to pull at the heart strings? Just goes to show that being a good dart player does not equate to being that bright. Seriously, ‘I thought you didn’t have to pay tax on winnings’ , your a pro dart player and its your line of work, your not playing the lottery or placing a bet. I think it was Phil Taylor who said you should put a third to one side of all winnings into a bank account, obviously Merv was wearing his earplugs at the time.Mysstree10-03-2025
- The thing is... the folks who "humiliated" Taylor in the Seniors Events never really achieved anything in the important events - like Taylor did. Taylor had/has nothing to prove... and beating Taylor after he had retired is of zero value. Taylor in his prime would have made easy work of all of them. Cheers.MrYnyslas197107-03-2025
