Luke Littler might have a new rival in the near future: the nine-year-old son of former top footballer Wayne Rooney, Kit.
Kit, the former soccer player's third oldest child, celebrated his ninth birthday in January with a darts theme. His passion for the sport arose after meeting Luke Littler at Alexandra Palace shortly after Littler's impressive victory at the World Darts Championship earlier this year. The young Kit was so impressed that he had his own replica "Luke The Nuke" shirts signed by his idol.
But Kit may soon be wearing his own personalized darts shirts. In an interview with The Sun, his mother, Coleen Rooney, revealed that Kit has decided to give up his soccer career to focus entirely on darts.
If his breakfast is any indication of his dedication, Kit is certainly on the right track. "The third one has steak for breakfast, this is the darts one, he wants to become a darts player at the minute," Coleen told talkSPORT. "Sometimes he'll have a fried egg with it, but mostly it's just a steak - he'll just have that."
Coleen also gave an insight into the sporting pursuits of her other sons. "Kai, he's 15, and Klay, who's going to be 12 in May, they're both at the academy at Manchester United, they've been there for quite a few years now," she joked.
"The youngest, he goes in at Everton, he's just turned seven, but he absolutely loves it, and the third one, he's retired. He's retired a few times."
Kit's determination to pursue his darts dream is evident in his daily routine. According to his mother, he spends hours at the dartboard in their Cheshire home, constantly throwing darts. Should he continue to follow this passion, he still has plenty of time to break Luke Littler's record as the youngest ever world champion.
With his talent, dedication and a hearty breakfast, Kit Rooney seems poised to conquer the sport of darts. Who knows, we may see an exciting duel between Luke Littler and Kit Rooney on the big stage in the future!
