Perez wins PDC Asian Championship, seals Grand Slam of Darts spot alongside Ally Pally debut

Christian Perez on Sunday crowned himself the winner of the first-ever edition of the PDC Asian Championship. In this tournament, 48 Asian darters participated.
This event was mainly about dividing the four starting spots for the World Darts Championship. The group stage and the last sixteen were played on Saturday. Well-known names such as Seigo Asada, Mikuru Suzuki, Royden Lam and Paul Lim lost out.
The four remaining players continued competing for the final victory of the PDC Asian Championship, which carried a $15,000 prize and an invitation to the Grand Slam of Darts.
Perez won 6-1 against compatriot Lourence Ilagan in the semi-finals, after which Paolo Nebrida ensured an all Filipino final with a 6-3 win over Toru Suzuki. Perez was then too strong for Nebrida 7-5 in the final.
