Petersen reveals help with game from Taylor: "It changed my mental space"

Devon Petersen after booking his Last 16 place at the Grand Slam of Darts spoke to the media post match and revealed that he has received help from Phil Taylor alongside the previously mentioned coaching from Wayne Mardle and Colin Lloyd.

Petersen discussed how it has helped him not only with his game but as an influence on his career as a whole as he heads into the latter stages of a TV tournament once more in a landmark year.

"A great thing with Phil is that he's always telling me that I need to rest up, I need to be focused and approach the game like any other game and make sure you focus on the 501, not the whole game." said Petersen to Online Darts.

"We speak about some intricates of the game, I think having that opportunity. I've idolised Phil Taylor over the years and once we contacted each other, it changed my mental space. The likes of Phil, Colin (Lloyd) and Wayne (Mardle), I've watched them on VHS tapes, that's how young I was."

"So having that kind of experience, it shows you that external influence on your career can have a positive effect if you have positive people around you."
