Wright dumped out by Petersen after exceptional win White against Van Duijvenbode

A dramatic end has occurred in Group E with Devon Petersen and Ian White through to the Last 16 at the Grand Slam of Darts with Peter Wright out of the tournament.

White knew going into his tie with Dirk van Duijvenbode that he needed a potential miracle but he did his part by smashing the Dutchman in a 5-1 win with one of the displays of the tournament averaging 108 and hitting 100% of the doubles.

Now he had to sit and wait for Petersen to play Wright needing a 5-2 win or better to go through and this was a real possibility as 'The African Warrior' topped the group by going 3-1 up.

From there, a 13 darter saw Petersen go into a 4-1 lead and put Wright on the brink of elimination. Wright took out 64 to keep himself in it but Petersen got over the line as White becomes only the 11th player to go through despite only having one win.
