Players Championship 14: Jonny Clayton wins title with average over 109

Jonny Clayton wins his 7th Players Championship title in Rosmalen on Tuesday evening. Clayton was in a different league to Dominik Gruellich who is third on the Development Tour and was making his his first Pro Tour final debut.

The final started with back to back 15 dart holds of throw before Clayton broke in 17 darts to take control of the match, holding in 11 to lead 3-1. Gruellich held in 13 to bring himself within one before Clayton got another 11 dart hold and 17 dart break to 5-2.

Jonny got another hold of throw with a 121 checkout for a 12 darter, leading 6-2. A 13 dart break of throw put him one away, before getting another 12 dart hold for the match with his signature 121 checkout.

He hit six ton plus averages over the course of the day and seals a seventh Players Championship title in what was an electrifying display.
