Players Championship 18-19 participants announced as Michael van Gerwen officially makes his return after surgery

Michael van Gerwen will definitely make his return to the PDC circuit next week. 'Mighty Mike' has registered for Players Championship 18 and 19 and will travel to Milton Keynes to make his comeback.

Van Gerwen went under the knife in July, a day after he lost out in the 2024 World Matchplay final against Luke Humphries to undergo dental surgery for the second consecutive year. As a result, he missed a trio of Players Championship tournaments and the two World Series tournaments in Australia and New Zealand.

Van Gerwen is one of many big names to have registered for the latest block of Pro Tour action. Also involved will be the likes of Stephen Bunting, Dave Chisnall, Jonny Clayton, Joe Cullen, Chris Dobey, Damon Heta, Danny Noppert, Gerwyn Price, Josh Rock, Ryan Searle, Ross Smith, Raymond van Barneveld, Dimitri van den Bergh, James Wade and Peter Wright among others.

A total of 125,000 pounds in prize money is distributed at each Players Championship tournament. The winner of the event will receive a check for 15,000 pounds.
