One in particular is Ian White facing Jose de Sousa. De Sousa in particular impressed smashing in a 114 average against Ritchie Edhouse in a 6-3 win.
'Madhouse' himself played well smashing in a 106.7 average but the Portuguese ace showed his prowess and his form as of late, is it once again his day?
Other players through include some of the most in-form players on the ProTour such as Gerwyn Price who edged past Gavin Carlin, Krzysztof Ratajski and Callan Rydz with the latter high on confidence after winning the Challenge Tour. Can he go all the way to show a glimpse into the future?
Michael Smith, Daryl Gurney and Peter Wright are also through; in a day when a lot of the world's best aren't here it hasn't dampened the others chances and it seems likely that we will have a well-known winner come the end of proceedings at the Barnsley Metrodome.
