Premier League Darts 2020, final standings: Van Gerwen to miss play-offs for first time
The final standings for the group stage of the 2020 Premier League Darts have been confirmed.
A sixteenth stunning night of action brought a close to the tightest contest in the competition's history. In the end, just four points separated first place from sixth. Claiming top spot is Glen Durrant, just the third ever Premier League Darts table-topper after Phil Taylor and Michael van Gerwen.
The 21 points collected by Durrant is the lowest total needed to top the league since 2009, and the lowest ever in the current 16-game format.
Van Gerwen's shock defeat to Daryl Gurney landed him in sixth spot, ending a seven-year reign at the top of the table. The four points separating him from Durrant is the smallest ever gap between first and sixth.
Peter Wright claims second spot, thanks to a win over Michael Smith, coupled with Gary Anderson 's defeat against Gerwyn Price. He will face Nathan Aspinall in the play-offs, after the Asp beat Durrant to reach the Premier League Darts season-ending showcase on debut. Anderson rounds off the top four, and will meet Durrant at the O2 Arena.
Rob Cross, thanks to his elimination on Judgement Night, takes ninth spot. The contenders finished the 2020 Premier League Darts season with a record of one win, two draws and six defeats. Luke Humphries claimed the first ever victory for a contender, with Fallon Sherrock and Stephen Bunting each recording a draw.
