In the run-up to the resumption of the Premier League Darts 2020 on August 25, Dartsnews looks back on the performances per player in the first six weeks of the competition. This time, Gary Anderson is in the spotlight.
Things are not going very smoothly for Anderson in this edition of the Premier League Darts. The averages are a bit frugal and
The Flying Scotsman also lost unnecessarily points. After six nights, he is
currently the number six with six points. The two-time world champion hasn't secured his place in the competition after Judgement Night yet.
The Scotsman darter started the league
with a 7-5 win over Daryl Gurney, but failed to claim back to back wins. He was
the better played against Peter Wright, but the current world champion escaped with one point.
Anderson also did not win on Night Three in Cardiff. The two-time Premier League champion
lost 7-4 against Glen Durrant, but took revenge a week later in Dublin
against Rob Cross (7-5).
On March 5 in Exeter, the current world number nine ran into unnecessary points loss again. With an average of under 88, he lost
7-5 to 'challenger' Luke Humphries, after Anderson missed nine doubles to claim at least one point. Anderson then concluded the sixth week of the Premier League
with a draw against Nathan Aspinall.
Anderson will face
Michael Smith,
Gerwyn Price and
Michael van Gerwen in his next three matches. All players who should suit him well in terms of pace.
