From Nov. 7 to 10, 24 German darters will compete in the PDC Europe Super League in Bitburg, Germany, for a place at the PDC World Championships at Alexandra Palace.
The tournament begins with four groups of six players. During the first two tournament days, players play twice against the other players in their group. After these games, the two worst-performing players drop out. The remaining sixteen players continue in a elimination schedule. The last sixteen will take place on Nov. 9, after which the quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals will be played consecutively on Nov. 10.
Recently, the draw was made for this event. In this article, we take a look at the players in Group A. In this group are
Daniel Klose,
Lukas Wenig, Kai Gotthardt, Marco Obst, Michael Hurtz and Michael Klรถnhammer.
As a Tour Card holder, Klose is certainly one of the favourites. He reached the final of Players Championship 21 in September of this year and a month later made it to the last sixteen at Players Championship 25.
Let's move on to Lukas Wenig. Although he does not have a Tour Card, Wenig has certainly shown himself this season. He participated in the UK Open and made it to the second round of the Euro Tour tournament in Kiel. Last year, Wenig also participated in the PDC Europe Super League and then he managed to make it to the knockout stage. In the last sixteen, Renรฉ Eidams proved too strong then.
Wenig was also active on the Challenge Tour, finishing 20th on the Challenge Tour Order of Merit. He was also a weekly winner in the MODUS Super League in April 2023.
Like Marco Obst and Michael Hurtz, Kai Gotthardt is a regular participant in the PDC Europe Super League. In the recent past, however, they have not had any significant successes in the PDC.
Klรถnhammer secured entry into the PDC Europe Super League through Super League Qualifier 2, where he defeated Markus Kessler 5-3.
