There is guaranteed to be a new winner added this Sunday night, to the still short honour roll of the
Swiss Darts Trophy. That is already clear before the start of the final session, in which eight darters will compete for the overall victory at the Euro Tour tournament in Basel.
It is the second time the PDC has traveled to Switzerland for a Euro Tour tournament. In 2024, the Swiss Darts Trophy was scheduled for the first time and then it was Martin Schindler who took the title.
Follow the Swiss Darts Trophy 2025 via our live scores!Schindler began his tournament back then with a 6-1 win over Anton Ă–stlund, and then made it to the semifinals by dealing with
Stephen Bunting (6-4) and
Raymond van Barneveld (6-4). The Wall then beat Josh Rock 7-2 before Schindler survived seven match darts in the final against Ryan Searle to win 8-7 after a thriller. Another title will not come for the German, as Schindler was eliminated Sunday afternoon in the third round.
In the first quarterfinal, Ryan Searle will take on Luke Woodhouse. Searle stunted Sunday afternoon with a 6-4 victory over Luke Humphries, having previously defeated Niels Zonneveld 6-3. Woodhouse is already three pots behind. After his 6-5 victory over Lukas Wenig, 'The Shed' impressed with a 6-2 win over Dave Chisnall thanks to an average of 110.69. Woodhouse was then also 6-2 too strong for Jermaine Wattimena. For Woodhouse it will be his sixth quarterfinal on the Euro Tour and only once did he make it to the last four. Searle has been in this position thirteen times before, and three times got through his pot at the last eight. In the mutual balance, the score is balanced: both players won four times against each other.

Cor Dekker continued his sensational weekend by dealing with Chris Dobey (6-5) in a spectacular game. 'Hollywood' was scoring strong with an average of 106.99, but it was Dekker's finishes that were the deciding factor. After victories over Andrew Gilding (6-3), Peter Wright (6-3) and Dobey (6-5),
Jonny Clayton becomes the fourth former major-winner to face the Norwegian Dutchman. 'The Ferret' is playing a strong tournament so far with convincing wins over Nathan Aspinall (6-4) and Martin Schindler (6-3) with averages of around 105. For Dekker it will be his first quarterfinal on the Euro Tour. With this result, 'The Sheriff' has at least already mixed in the battle for placement for the World Darts Championship, and another stunt would only improve his position. Clayton is chasing his fourth Euro Tour title in Basel.
Raymond van Barneveld's weekend has already succeeded. The goal was to secure placement for the World Grand Prix and the European Championship, and his quarterfinal finish made it happen. Van Barneveld won his first three matches against Ansh Sood (6-3), Damon Heta (6-5) and Ritchie Edhouse (6-0) and can actually throw freely in his quarterfinal against Stephen Bunting. Bunting joined the last eight via wins over Chris Landman (6-3) and Krzysztof Ratajski (6-3). 'The Bullet' was winner of the International Darts Open in Riesa earlier this year, while 'Barney' only won a Euro Tour tournament at the European Darts Open in 2012. In the head-to-head the advantage lies with the Dutchman, who won eight of the 15 previous duels between them.

In the last quarterfinal,
Gian van Veen and Rob Cross will be in action. The latter prevented a Dutch quarterfinal by beating Danny Noppert 6-5. An important victory for 'Voltage', who is not yet sure of participating in the European Championship next month. Van Veen was already that far and wide, triumphing against Dirk van Duijvenbode (6-0) and Ryan Joyce (6-2) to advance to the quarterfinals. Both men have never won a Euro Tour tournament, although both lost a final earlier this year. Cross and Van Veen have played against each other six times before, and the spoils are neatly divided between them. The mental advantage does lie with Cross, who won the last two matches.
Can Gian van Veen advance to the final four in Basel?
