Price after regaining World Number One spot from Wright: "I'd rather play Peter in the final as I wanted to pinch it out of his pocket"

Gerwyn Price staved off the charge of Jose de Sousa in a superb display from 'The Iceman' to reach the semi-finals of the World Matchplay 16-14 and reaches this point in Blackpool for the first time.

"I'm over the moon. That was a very difficult game, towards the end I was still confident of winning but it was getting a little bit tough. I'm glad he gave me an opportunity that I gave him a few times in the game. I think the one time he slipped up and I took advantage," he said post match.

"I'm full of confidence but every game is different. It's good that I've got my confidence back and I feel like I'm back to myself again but I know things can change so I need to practice well tomorrow before the game and put Danny (Noppert) under a lot of pressure because I know it's going to be another difficult game."

As well as that, the World Number One spot is now his once more which he admitted he would have rather won by beating the previous holder, Peter Wright.

"World Number One in any sport and with such a standard as what it is in darts right now. To be honest I haven't played much darts ranking wise this year so to get back to World Number One, I'm over the moon but my main priority is to lift this trophy. I'd rather play Peter (Wright) in the final as I wanted to pinch it out of his pocket but unfortunately he's out."
