Dirk van Duijvenbode did not manage to qualify for the semi-finals of the World Matchplay. Aubergenius went down 16-11 against Danny Noppert in the quarterfinals.
Van Duijvenbode was disappointed afterwards. "This feels really unnecessary, although Danny played very well, especially towards the end of the match. I missed in the beginning, I missed too many doubles", the 30 year old Dutchman tells Viaplay.
Injury
During the match, we saw Van Duijvenbode doing regular stretching exercises. "I tore my cruciate ligaments and I also have a small tear in my meniscus. I did not have that operated on because the calendar is so full that you don't have time for it. It did bother me during the match, because it is my supporting leg. But I certainly do not want to use that as an excuse for my defeat", Van Duijvenbode concludes.
