Gerwyn Price will be in the semi-finals of the
World Grand Prix for the first time tomorrow but will be the favourite to claim a first title in the double start format in Coventry.
This is after Price saw off Jeffrey de Zwaan in a 3-1 sets victory which included a stunning 164 checkout to win the tie from 'The Iceman'.
After Michael van Gerwen's departure, there will be a new name on the trophy but Price is now the highest ranked player left in the field. He will now take on Dave Chisnall tomorrow night with a tie against Simon Whitlock or Dirk van Duijvenbode potentially awaiting.
It was a very one sided start to the tie with Price claiming it in consecutive legs averaging 92 and he continued his run of not dropping a set in the tournament following that coming through in a decider.
This run was about to end though with De Zwaan taking out a 100 checkout en route to getting a set on the board 3-1 in an assured fightback from 'The Black Cobra'.
It was only a mini fightback though from the Dutchman with Price returning to the foray and concluding the final set 3-1 including the aforementioned 164 checkout to cap it all off. Can the World Number Three add another title to his ever growing collection tomorrow?
