Gerwyn Price reached the summit of the sport last year when he claimed the PDC World Darts Championship and he believes that Michael van Gerwen and Peter Wright in particular won't return to the top.
"I know Michael has reached his peak, same with Peter,’ Price said to Metro.co.uk.
"I don’t think Jonny [Clayton] has peaked yet, I think there’s a lot more to come from him and a lot of the players."
"Michael Smith, Joe Cullen and certainly myself. As well as I’ve done, there’s a lot more to come."
"Michael, don’t get me wrong, three or four years ago he was best player in the world but he’s been knocked off his throne and I don’t think he likes that,’ added Price.
"I think deep down he knows he’s not playing as well as he once was, he’s not the player that he once was and Peter certainly isn’t the player he was two or three years ago either.
"There’s only one way those two players are going and that’s backwards and I think everyone else around them are going to take over them.
"Don’t get me wrong, Michael’s a fantastic player, but I don’t think he’ll reach the heights that he once did."
