Gerwyn Price has claimed a measure of revenge against his close friend, Jonny Clayton to reach the semi-finals of the Grand Slam of Darts.
Price made sure that Clayton wouldn't add another major title to his collection and defeat him again like in the World Grand Prix final with a 16-12 win averaging 98 in the process in a high quality affair.
Price started the better of the duo going 4-1 up and storming into an early lead over Clayton.
He followed that up with going seven perfect darts into a nine-dart finish to head into a 5-1 lead from there.
Rare missed darts at double hampered Price as Clayton began to close the gap with a superb 126 checkout before making it 6-4 at the interval with Price only getting one more leg.
He brought himself to parity from there before Price smashed in a 110 checkout to edge back in front and looked to build his lead again. This he did as he let out huge roars of emotion en-route to go 10-8 up.
Clayton kicked off the requisite leg with six perfect legs but still lost it as Price took out 68 for a 11-8 lead.
He surged ahead once more with a 77 checkout to make it 12-9 before Clayton dug deep once more to make it 12-12.
A pivotal moment saw Clayton miss one dart at double 20 and Price pinned the same target to make it 14-12 before consolidating his break to make it 15-12.
Before he closed it out 16-12 with Clayton unable to claim a 94 checkout and Price returned for double 20 and the victory.
