The 32 participants at this year's
World Grand Prix 2022 will compete for the top prize of £120,000 in
prize money. At £600,000, the prize pool is almost sixteen times larger than when this tournament started in 1998. Back then, 'only' £38,000 was made available by the PDC.
All participating players are guaranteed £7500 in starting money. The losers from the second round receive £15,000. The quarter-finalists go home with at least £25,000, the semi-finalists almost one and a half times as much (£40,000). The losing finalist will receive a check for £60,000 and the winner thus double.
The World Grand Prix will be played in Leicester from October 3 to 9. Last year the tournament was won by Jonny Clayton, who defeated compatriot Gerwyn Price in the final.
