It may be two exciting days for Kim Huybrechts. The Belgian lost in the first round of the European Darts Matchplay on Friday, while competitor Brendan Dolan managed to get through his first round. As a result, 'The Hurricane' now occupies the last qualifying spot for the World Matchplay.
The first thirteen players on the Pro Tour Order of Merit are now mathematically certain, while number fourteen Steve Beaton may also consider himself certain. For Dolan and especially Huybrechts it is still exciting.
Seven players can still overtake the two-time major finalist during the Euro Tour weekend in Trier. Ricardo Pietreczko is the main competitor. The German needs a quarterfinal to catch up with Huybrechts and thus needs to win two more matches. His next opponent is Huybrechts' compatriot Dimitri van den Bergh.
Keane Barry also still has a chance of qualifying for the World Matchplay, but needs a final place at the European Darts Matchplay. Callan Rydz, Mickey Mansell, Martin Lukeman, Gian van Veen and Ryan Joyce can only qualify with tournament wins.
