Ryan Joyce and
Josh Rock are the first two players to secure a spot on the final day of the
European Darts Matchplay. Both players successfully made it through the second round on Saturday afternoon.
Starting in the second round, the top-16 seedings also flow in and Joyce managed to give one of them a leg right away. 'Relentless' eliminated third set head Dave Chisnall.
Joyce hurt his compatriot early in the match by throwing out 71 and 80 with his third dart while Chisnall was waiting for a double.
'Chizzy' then let it slip himself by missing three chances for the 2-3. Joyce hit the double 4 again to make it 4-1. A 76 finish moments later put a 5-2 lead on the scoreboard, before Chisnall notched another 12-darter for 3-5. Joyce then ended the match with a fine 123 checkout.
The second match of the afternoon session was a Northern Irish showdown between Josh Rock and Brendan Dolan. There was no real match, however, as 'Rocky' blew over his compatriot 6-0.
Dolan didn't even play too badly with an average of 96, but the hefty result was mainly due to Rock's good play. The reigning junior world champion recorded an average of 107 and a finishing percentage of 60 percent.
