Race to Players Championship Finals after PDC Winter Series Day Three

The penultimate day of PDC Winter Series action begins later on Friday with the cut-off for the Players Championship Finals set to take place in Coventry at the end of November also coming up.

Gerwyn Price at the moment is currently top seed for the event but can be caught due to 'The Iceman' seemingly taking at least Friday off the Winter Series after his victory on Day Three.

Peter Wright can catch him but needs at least a run to a Final over the course of the two days or two good runs and Price not attending either day for 'Snakebite' to end up top seed.

Michael van Gerwen will return on Friday and he sits third with £58,250 ahead of Nathan Aspinall and James Wade who round out the top five.

Good seasons for Jose de Sousa (9th), Damon Heta (13th) and Devon Petersen (18th) in particular will see them seeded fairly highly. Gary Anderson currently sits 24th and despite not playing this week is seemingly safe due to the top 64 qualifying.

Currently the last qualifiers include Scott Mitchell, Boris Krcmar, Niels Zonneveld, Scott Waites and Conan Whitehead who sit in positions 60-64th.

But with Mitchell even, he is only on £8,500 and other players above only sit on £9,000 which means especially for Gavin Carlin, Ryan Meikle and players who themselves are currently on £8,000, a chance could present itself with an opening win on Day Four.

Currently those sitting outside qualification include Darius Labanauskas who will hope to replicate his run on Day Three to get himself secure, Jelle Klaasen and those wanting to keep their Tour Cards including Matthew Edgar, Robert Thornton and Benito van de Pas need potential runs to help save them.

But even so due to the truncated season on the Players Championship series with two days to go, the field could change around completely in terms of seeding and players going in and out.
