The next ranking major is scheduled for October with the World Grand Prix. The qualifying race for this tournament is in full swing, but there are eight more tournaments to play before the lineup is complete.
The lineup for the 2024 World Grand Prix consists of the top 16 in the world rankings and the top 16 in the Pro Tour Order of Merit. The top eight in the world rankings are seeded in the first round, and thus receive protected status in the draw.
Luke Humphries will lead the seeds at the World Grand Prix, the tournament where "Cool Hand Luke" won his first major there last year. Michael Smith and Michael van Gerwen are still battling for the second spot. In addition to Van Gerwen, Rob Cross, Gerwyn Price and Peter Wright are also assured of their spots through this route.
Sixteen more players will be added to the line-up via the Pro Tour ranking. Luke Littler has already secured his debut at the World Grand Prix through this ranking, while Gary Anderson and Cameron Menzies are also among those leading the line.
James Wade, Luke Woodhouse and Joe Cullen only sit narrowly inside the line with Gabriel Clemens, Alan Soutar, Dirk van Duijvenbode among others chasing but they still have three Euro Tours and five Players Championship tournaments to play themselves into the field of participants.
The 2024 World Grand Prix is scheduled from 7 to 13 October in Leicester. Last year, Humphries managed to win the title at this major tournament by winning 5-2 in sets over Price in the final.
