Ricky Evans has raced through the opening round at the
PDC World Darts Championship with a comfortable 3-0 win over Simon Adams, setting up a second round tie with Nathan Aspinall.
After a typically festive walk on from Evans, the pair put on a very nervy opening leg. After a handful of missed doubles from both, it was Adams who finally took it, celebrating with his trademark look at the hands. Growing into the set as it went on, it was Evans who took set though, sealing the deal in a deciding leg.
Starting to find his groove, Evans opened set 2 with a brilliant 121 finish on the bullseye, breaking the throw in the process and backed it up in the following leg with a 12-darter finished on double 16. With a 112 finish in leg 3, Evans was 2-0 up in double quick time.
The Englishman continued to dominate in set 3, whitewashing the set and completing a comfortable first round win to set up a mouth-watering tie with Nathan Aspinall in the next round.
