The next two names into the hat for Saturday's second round at the Baltic Sea Darts Open have been confirmed with Raymond van Barneveld and Lakeside champion Andy Baetens both progressing.
For Van Barneveld, it was a relatively comfortable win in the end as the legendary Dutchman dispatched Daniel Larsson 6-1. Averaging a touch under the ton with 99.33, hitting four 180s and nailing 40% of his doubles, it was a very accomplished performance from the five-time former world champion. In the next round, a fellow Dutchman awaits as Van Barneveld faces off against Danny Noppert.
Things were much trickier for Andy Baetens in his tie. The Belgian trailed 2-0 early on to Gabriel Clemens. After Baetens roared back to 5-3 victory looked assured but his German opponent fought back to switch the momentum again and force a decider. In the last leg though, it was Baetens who prevailed with a 14-darter.
