Peter Wright has capped off a brilliant day of darts by defeating Gerwyn Price in the final event of the PDC Summer Series to top the Order of Merit as a result.

Update 17:45pm

Wright to face Price in PDC Summer Series Day Five final

Peter Wright will face Gerwyn Price in a battle of the top two players by seeding on the ProTour and two of the best in the world as the final of the last day of PDC Summer Series is confirmed.

From what we've seen in the semi-finals, it will be a classic. The former was the first through sweeping aside Wayne Jones 7-2 with a 109 average.

But the game of the season potentially was on the other board as Devon Petersen averaged 113.5, hit a 170 checkout, seven 180's and had a match darts but still lost 7-6 to Gerwyn Price in an absolute epic.

'The Iceman' himself averaged 102 but in the end, 'The African Warrior' couldn't get the pivotal break with both players showing the insane standard they can throw for the whole game.

For Petersen, he goes agonisingly close to having a chance to win his first title and also a World Matchplay spot in a game where he hardly put a foot wrong.

Results Players Championship 13 Quarter-Finals

Gerwyn Price (102.3) 6 | 1 (87.6) James Wade

Update 17:15pm

Price vs Petersen and Wright vs Jones set for semi-finals on last day of PDC Summer Series

The line-up is confirmed for the semi-finals in the PDC Summer Series with two of the best in the world against two players looking for their first PDC ranking titles.

The first semi-final sees the imperious Gerwyn Price who continued where he left off against Jose de Sousa hitting a 102 average in easing past James Wade 6-1. This means that the latter cannot win a double and claim a Grand Slam place.

His opponent though will be looking to claim a place in a different tournament entirely, the World Matchplay. Devon Petersen has reached his second semi-final this year to continue his brilliant form he has shown without getting the results he has deserved.

He has today in defeating John Henderson 6-3 to end his dreams of being involved in Milton Keynes but only a title win will do for 'The African Warrior', can he get his first PDC title and claim the last spot?

In the other half, Peter Wright is through. The World Champion narrowly defeated fellow Premier League star, Nathan Aspinall 6-5 with a 97 average. He will take on the veteran, Wayne Jones who does not have a title to his name barring the Challenge Tour, he breezed past Scott Baker 6-0 and has gone under the radar.

Update 16:30pm

Wright v Aspinall and Price v Wade among Quarter-Finals in Milton Keynes

We have our Quarter-Final line-up in Milton Keynes with two games in particular standing out on opposite ends of the draws.

Gerwyn Price who produced a comeback to see off Jose de Sousa in a phenomenal game which went all the way to a decider will take on James Wade, yesterday's champion who will take a Grand Slam of Darts spot with victory today in topping the Order of Merit.

Also Peter Wright and Nathan Aspinall - the World Champion and former UK Open Champion facing off in a battle of two of the best players in darts and in the former's case despite his class this week, another chance to win his first title of the week.

In the other games, it is battles of unseeded players. Scott Baker will face Wayne Jones and John Henderson and Devon Petersen will face off in a game which could ultimately decide the final World Matchplay spot albeit the former will need a final and the latter the win.

Update 16:10pm

Beaton qualifies for 20th consecutive World Matchplay

Steve Beaton has done it! The popular 'Bronzed Adonis' will be in Milton Keynes next week for his 20th consecutive appearance at the World Matchplay.

Beaton himself went out in the second round earlier today to Christian Bunse so had a nervous wait when it came to finding out his fate.

Dirk van Duijvenbode who technically was the only player who could stop him if he beat John Henderson in the final went out in the Last 16 to Nathan Aspinall so the former Lakeside World Champion will delight our screens once more.

Update 15:40pm

Price hits phenomenal 113 average in Labanauskas win, sets up Last 16 clash with De Sousa

The action is into the Last 16 with some remarkable results coming out in terms of not only averages but World Matchplay qualification hopes.

Gerwyn Price will of course be at the World Matchplay but he produced another brilliant display in seeing off Darius Labanauskas. A 113 average was hit by 'The Iceman' in a 6-1 win.

His day won't get any easier though as he takes on Jose de Sousa in what could be the match of the day. He has continued his excellent form with a 103 average in also a 6-1 win over Danny Noppert.

Also through include the likes of Peter Wright, Daryl Gurney, Nathan Aspinall and John Henderson.

Henderson in particular will be one to look out for, he edged past Mensur Suljovic in a 6-5 win to keep his World Matchplay hopes alive. He faces off against Mickey Mansell with both players still able to make it.

Also still in the running include Devon Petersen, Chris Dobey and Dirk van Duijvenbode, all of whom are into the Last 16. With two spots left, it's not over yet.

Update 15:20pm

Brown set for World Matchplay, two spots left to be confirmed

In terms of the World Matchplay race, Keegan Brown has gone out as has Steve Beaton but as a result the former's place is secure.

Two spots are left to be decided but Beaton will only miss out if Dirk van Duijvenbode defeats John Henderson in the final it seems. This potentially leaves Ricky Evans spot the most vulnerable.

He is currently on £22,500 with John Henderson needing only to reach the final. Devon Petersen and Dirk van Duijvenbode are both gaining ground and are into the Last 16 but both need a title.

As do Mickey Mansell and Chris Dobey who are into the Last 32, but with multiple big names now out; Evans could yet be under threat as could Beaton.

Update 15:00pm

Price and Wright through first hurdle, Durrant, Anderson and White out

The Last 32 is here on the final day of the PDC Summer Series and despite Michael van Gerwen falling in this round, lots of big names are still involved.

Among them is top seed Gerwyn Price who began his campaign in this round after getting a bye, he saw off William O'Connor in a whitewash win averaging 100.

James Wade is also through. Yesterday's champion saw off Scott Mitchell in a thriller which saw 'The Machine' average 103 and 'Scotty Dog' 104 but it ended up 6-4 in the end to the former.

With Van Gerwen losing out, if he can claim a double he'd top the table which would grant him a Grand Slam spot, he currently doesn't have. Peter Wright who also received a bye is also through and despite Jelle Klaasen going seven darts into a nine-darter twice, he still lost 6-4.

Glen Durrant, Ian White and Gary Anderson though have had their day curtailed. 'Duzza' lost out 6-4 to Wayne Jones, White lost 6-4 to Peter Jacques while Matthew Edgar who lost out to Anderson earlier on in the week having had match darts got revenge 6-4 with a 102 average.

Van Gerwen dumped out by Petersen despite brilliant fightback

Michael van Gerwen won't be playing any further part in today's action after defeat to Devon Petersen despite coming from 5-0 down against The African Warrior to force a decider. The popular South African keeps his World Matchplay hopes alive!

Update 14:00pm

Searle, Huybrechts and Bunting's World Matchplay hopes ended

The first round is complete on the final day at the PDC Summer Series with the World Matchplay race being nearly complete barring those who could win the title today.

Kim Huybrechts was first to lose out after losing 6-1 to Darren Webster - which included the nine-dart finish from the latter. He needed a Quarter-Final today.

Darius Labanauskas took out 125 in the decider to defeat Stephen Bunting and end his hopes; while Ryan Searle who came into today in 17th spot was trounced 6-0 by Geert Nentjes.

His defeat meant that Dimitri van den Bergh secured his debut in the tournament. Keegan Brown and Steve Beaton picked up first round wins to keep their spots alive. One more win for both will confirm it. While John Henderson defeated Ricky Evans 6-4 as he needs a final today to make it but for Mervyn King, his 13 year run at the tournament is over after defeat to Madars Razma.

Vincent van der Voort's exit means that despite injury curtailing his last two days, Justin Pipe is in. Ryan Searle under the PDC rules would be the first player in as a replacement if he has to withdraw due to injury. He has tendinitis in his elbow seemingly from playing three straight days.
