Earlier, Michael van Gerwen, Peter Wright, Glen Durrant and Ian White came through their opening round tests without a degree of difficulty for most.

Gary Anderson was the same in his first round. Of course a player who can be vulnerable due to him not being seeded anymore he started his day brilliantly smashing Premier League Challenger, Stephen Bunting 6-0 with a 102 average.

Brendan Dolan's performance though was one that stood out. 'The History Maker' has had a real resurgence on the Pro Tour and he faced Adrian Gray who showed him sublime he can play but just didn't get the rub of the green.

Dolan averaged 107 in victory while Gray averaged 104 in a 6-4 win for the former as he moves onto the next round.

There were also victories for the likes of Dave Chisnall, the in-form Devon Petersen and Scott Waites; as well as Lisa Ashton.

Ashton claimed probably one of her biggest scalps so far on the ProTour in seeing off one of the best players based on statistics this year, Gabriel Clemens in a 6-2 win.
