Ricardo Pietreczko ends female hopes at the World Darts Championships with comfortable straight-sets win over Mikuru Suzuki

Ricardo Pietreczko has eased past Mikuru Suzuki at the Alexandra Palace, booking his spot in round 2 at the PDC World Darts Championships with a comfortable, straight-sets win.

Despite his pre-match concerns about the crowd, the big German number that had travelled over made their voices heard for Pietreczko early on. 'Pikachu' responded with a very composed display in the opening set, comfortably sweeping the set 3-0 with Suzuki being allowed a dart at double.

To start set 2 however, Suzuki got off the mark, holding throw with a 16-dart leg. Pietreczko responded in kind in leg 2 and continued to dominate for the remainder of the set and despite some double trouble, moved two clear and just one from the win.

Taking the opening leg of set 3 with his second ton-plus out, a 111, Pietreczko was firmly in command. After Suzuki made a hash of her chance to equal the set in set 2, Pietreczko moved one leg from victory. It didn't take long for him to seal the deal, easing to a 3-0 victory.
