Richard Veenstra thrashes Kim Huybrechts with painful whitewash at PDC World Darts Championship

Richard Veenstra has advanced to the last 32 on his debut at the World Darts Championship. 'Flyers' convincingly defeated Kim Huybrechts on Saturday afternoon by beating the number 31 ranked player 3-0 in sets.

Moreover, the Belgian did not manage to take a single leg against the Dutchman. With an average of 99.46 and a finishing percentage of 64 percent, Veenstra produced an excellent performance.

Veenstra immediately showed he was well into the match as he recorded a 12-darter in the first leg. After Huybrechts missed two arrows on tops in the second leg, the Dutchman made it 2-0 with an 85 finish. He then threw out 68 for a 3-0 set win.

In the first leg of the second set, Huybrechts again missed two doubles. These misses were mercilessly punished by a 61 finish from Veenstra. Also in the second leg of this set 'The Hurricane' missed two chances on the dice. Via a 19-darter and a 16-darter the second set also went 3-0 to Veenstra.

Veenstra then started the third set with two 13-darters, needing only one more leg for the win. With a 17-darter, "Flyers" then managed to finish the job, making him Michael van Gerwen's opponent in the next round.
