Moreover, the Belgian did not manage to take a single leg against the Dutchman. With an average of 99.46 and a finishing percentage of 64 percent, Veenstra produced an excellent performance.
Veenstra immediately showed he was well into the match as he recorded a 12-darter in the first leg. After Huybrechts missed two arrows on tops in the second leg, the Dutchman made it 2-0 with an 85 finish. He then threw out 68 for a 3-0 set win.
In the first leg of the second set, Huybrechts again missed two doubles. These misses were mercilessly punished by a 61 finish from Veenstra. Also in the second leg of this set 'The Hurricane' missed two chances on the dice. Via a 19-darter and a 16-darter the second set also went 3-0 to Veenstra.
Veenstra then started the third set with two 13-darters, needing only one more leg for the win. With a 17-darter, "Flyers" then managed to finish the job, making him Michael van Gerwen's opponent in the next round.
