Lee Mack is not the first name that springs to mind when it comes to darts records, the comedian’s five-year
Guinness World Records™ title for most twos scored in a minute has now been broken by PDC player
Ricky Evans. The latter made his attempt in association with William Hill ahead of the World Championship.
Mack, known for starring in the show ‘Would I Lie To You?’ among others, had held the darts record for most twos racked up at the oche inside 60 seconds after notching an impressive 18 on 17th July 2015.
However, to warm players up ahead of the ongoing William Hill World Darts Championship, the sponsors challenged a selection of some of darts best to see if they could wrestle the crown from Mack, with Evans going on to finish top of the pile.
Michael Smith was the first to attempt to beat Mack and managed to equal the comedian’s haul with 18 number twos. Gerwyn Price (15), James Wade (16) and Dimitri Van den Bergh (14) all followed suit, yet were unable to break Mack and Smith’s joint best.
Damon Heta soon joined the duo with another score of 18 to equal their record before Luke Humphries followed Nathan Aspinall’s 16 with a stunning 20 to claim the Guinness World Records™ title for himself.
But that did not long last as Evans stepped up next to blow his fellow competitors out of the water with an incredible haul of 25, with neither Rob Cross (16) or Dave Chisnall (18) able to steal a late win in the closing stages.
